HD Video, sculpture, performance
Filmed during the residency at Officinas do Convento, Montemor-o-Novo. This video work shows the making of a home-made water filter, which was placed in the local river. The filter contains straw, my hair and the mycelium of Pleurotus Ostreatus, which is known for its potent mycomediation capabilities for substances like petrol and heavy metals. The work is a local intervention in the ecosystem, as well as an attempt to use our bodies for remediation in the most direct of ways. The result is a collaboration between human and fungi biomaterial and a personal act of piety.
